Mary Mock, owner
A transplant from Boulder, Colorado, Mary discovered Pilates after she had her twin daughters, now fourteen, and became passionate about the method as it helped her maintain a strong back and spirit during those toddler years. She also greatly appreciated the focus and concentration Pilates provided when she worked as a full-time health care executive.
Seizing the opportunity right after closing a company in 2001, Mary entered The Pilates Center training program in Boulder and spent a year studying the classical Pilates method. The Pilates Center’s extensive training program fostered Mary’s desire to teach the traditional “New York” style of Pilates: brisk and precise, following the classical choreography. She received her certification from the Pilates Center in 2003 and continues to study with Cara Reeser and The Pilates Center in Boulder. Mary is an active member of the Pilates Method Alliance. An avid athlete, Mary enjoys running, hiking, biking, tennis, golf and down hill skiing.
When asked, “Why open your own studio and support continuing education for instructors?” Mary is quick to respond: “To bring the best Pilates to the Bay Area.” While there are many solid training programs in the region, Mary saw there was a bit of a void in a purely classical training program as well as a need for continuing education for established trainers.
